Where to Buy a Used LEED Reference Guide

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:11

As part of our comprehensive LEED Exam Prep Courses, we are always asked where can one buy a used LEED reference guide. The interesting part about LEED reference guides is that the number of LEED AP candidates has been steadily growing as the LEED standard has become increasingly popular. This growth means that used reference guides move pretty quickly, so they don’t stay for sale for very long. So if you have the chance to get one, don’t wait, grab that used LEED reference guide while you can.

“The days where we’re just building sprawl forever, those days are over. I think that Republicans, Democrats, everybody recognizes that that’s not a smart way to design communities.” -President Barack Obama, Tuesday 2/10, Ft. Myers, FL

LEED 2009 Standards

This LEED credentials chart from GreenSource is a great tool for a description of the LEED credentials. It neatly lays out the future state of the LEED 2009 credentialing program. On one hand, I think that these changes are good, as they will continue to distinguish the LEED AP credential. LEED APs will continue to have specialized knowledge on sustainable building practices.

LEED 2009 Exam Changes Coming Soon

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:04

If you’re just starting to think about getting LEED Certified (i.e., becoming a LEED AP), then I’d recommend that you start studying and take the LEED AP Exam before March 31st, 2009.

March 31st, 2009 is the official last day to register for the current LEED NC 2.2 Version 3 Exam, which is 2 hours and 80 questions. Even though you may take the LEED NC 2.2 exam until July 1st or so, if you fail, you will then have to wait for the new exam to come out.

It seems that most of the building industry is wondering about the future of LEED. How will it shape my work? What’s interesting is that many cities and states are at the forefront of LEED with LEED mandates and incentives for government and commercial buildings.

This a question we have been receiving a lot of lately, but unfortunately the decision about whether to take the current version of the LEED AP Exam is up to the individual candidate.

Green Bean Chicago

I came across an interesting website today called Green Bean: Built, in-progress, and unbuilt Green Projects. There is a specific tag section call “LEED Certified” that shows off the LEED projects around Chicago. Although, we work with LEED and Energy Star, this blog is another reminder that there are a trove of green building programs out there. Check out their right side for the local Chicago flavors of green building.
