U.S. Energy Use Increases

The federal government’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently published the results of its annual worldwide study, which showed that greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane continue to rise in Earth’s atmosphere. Gases attributed to human activity jumped 29% since 1990. This goes to show one example where human activity has been documented and proven to reduce overall air quality.

Veterans Day 2011

Very few holidays stand out to me. It's fun seeing the kids dressed up on Halloween, or searching for the right Valentine’s Day card, but typical holidays come and pass and don't really faze me. However, when Memorial Day and Veterans Day approach, I feel overwhelmed with emotion. I appreciate the warm messages from fellow veterans, friends still serving and those I used to serve with that have moved on to careers in the civilian sector. But I wish there was a way to say thank you to those who are no longer with us. They deserve all the thanks.

NABCEP Launches New Entry Level Program

NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) launched a new Entry Level Solar Heating exam today. Solar heating is the lesser known, but more widely installed, cousin of solar PV panels that most people associate with solar energy. Solar heating is used to generate heat and/or hot water for pools and houses.

SolarCity Military Deal - More Than Solar Energy

Have you seen the latest news about SolarCity's deal with the U.S. military to install solar on 160,000 military housing units?  CNN reported that the deal is 100% privately financed (with federal backing) and that SolarCity will put up to 160,000 rooftop solar installations on top of privately-run military housing complexes at 124 military bases across 34 states. That is an astounding number of installations!
