Following the successful defeat of Proposition 23, California’s Air Resource Board recently finalized implementation rules for AB 32, the states cap and trade law. Once implemented in 2012, California will become the first state in the nation to regulate its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The program will set an economy-wide cap, covering about 80% of the state’s emissions, in an effort to cut emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. To ease the transition into carbon regulation, the state will give all large industry emitters free emission allowances through 2014.

Congress Extends Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficient Homes and Other Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credits.

After hard work by RESNET and its strategic allies, last night Congress extended the $2,000 federal tax credit for builders who build energy efficient homes. The extension is from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2011. The extension was part of a sweeping tax package negotiated by the White House and Republican Congressional leaders.

NYSERDA Provides Reimbursement to Area Residents of New York

Residents of New York may qualify for reimbursement for industry certification exams through multiple grant programs through NYSERDA.
