Green Jobs and Decent Work

Fri, 2010-02-26 10:09
I came across this graphic in a report from a mayors' conference. It asks two questions: What is a green job? What is a decent job? This graphic definitely made me think. First off, I don't agree that a chemical engineer would be decent but not green - what about the chemical engineers working on biofuels, or better plastics, etc.? Secondly, I do agree with the green but not decent part. Here at Everblue, we get lots of folks calling in that want to become solar installers.

Wed, 2010-02-24 17:05

I came accross these interesting videos from Retrotec on the setup and usage of their blower door equipment. For most energy auditors, the most intimidating part of the equipment is getting started. For most people, they complete their training and then wait 6-8 weeks for their official certification while also waiting for their equipment to get delivered. In that time, the class concepts and the details of the control pad and system usage get a little fuzzy.

RESNET HERS Rater National Conference Notes

Wed, 2010-02-24 14:23

I attended the RESNET conference in Raleigh, NC this week. The big technological advances revolved around cameras and software, but there were a number of small manufacturers as well.
