The Best Places to be an Energy Auditor

Sun, 2010-03-21 21:24

Where is the best place to be an energy auditor? Anywhere in the country is a great place to be an energy auditor, but the entire Northeast, upper mid-west, and the West Coast are the BEST places. Here are the factors that make those locations, in particular, so great:

1 - Extreme Climate.  Comfort is actually the number one reason that homeowners call an energy auditor. In fact, most of what we teach about making a home more energy efficient is directly related to the heating and cooling of a home.

Got a home? Green upgrades available

Sat, 2010-03-06 18:21

This week President Obama traveled to Savannah, Ga., to make the case for his "Home Star" initiative. Homeowners would get up to $3,000 worth of rebates for improvements like insulation and windows.

That could make a serious dent in the bill for home efficiency projects. But they still can be expensive. So, what to do?

Well, this week San Francisco joined a growing list of cities with something called a PACE program: Property Assessed Clean Energy. And it's supposed to make green upgrades available to anyone who wants them.

Thu, 2010-03-04 16:52

I just participated in the “HOME STAR overview and call to action” presentation by Patrick Roche, chairman of the industry trade association Efficiency First. Efficiency First is a relatively new (12-13 Month Old) trade association and political action organization for the home performance contractors.  The main point of this call was to spin up the industry to gain momentum behind the Home Star program.
