The Building Performance Institute (BPI) announced yesterday that the trial period for the new BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage Certification has concluded and that the BPI IDL Certification exams will be widely introduced to the public on Monday, October 27th.

Everblue was one of the BPI Test Centers approved to participate in the trial period for BPI IDL. In the last two months, we've seen great success with this program. BPI IDL training is now one of our most popular BPI training courses, so we're pleased to see that the certification will be rolled out to everyone soon.

Duct Blaster TrainingBPI IDL Certification is a single-measure certification that meets IECC code compliance for builders and contractors who must perform duct leakage and blower door tests on new homes built. Passing the exam (field exam only) verifies that candidates can conduct duct leakage and blower door tests to the ASTM E1554-07 standard.

Earning the IDL certification is an affordable way for builders, remodelers, HVAC technicians, and insulation contractors to gain the skills needed to offer duct leakage and blower door tests, in compliance with IECC codes for new homes.

This is a great certification for entry-level technicians in the home performance industry. It is not a whole-house credential. BPI IDL focuses on how to conduct the blower door and duct leakage tests only, which makes it a great hands-on stepping stone into Building Analyst or other BPI professional certifications.

Everblue provides standalone BPI IDL training, which is comprised of a 2-hour online webinar, half a day of hands-on field training, and the field exam. We also provide a bundled solution, if you are looking for more of a whole-house approach. The BPI Building Analyst & IDL Combo training is a 40-hour course (one week) and fully dives into building science concepts and the energy audit process.
