Everblue Energy is excited to announce the promotion of Layla Thomas from independent contractor to full-time program manager for BPI and RESNET training programs. Thomas brings 15 years of industry experience to the company and will be moving from Miami, FL to Everblue’s office headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Within her position as the program manager for BPI and RESNET training, Thomas will be responsible for scheduling classes across the country, hiring new instructors, communicating with partners and grant-funded organizations to host corporate-sponsored classes, and ensuring Everblue standards and curriculum evolve to comply with the most up-to-date BPI and RESNET requirements. Her problem solving and communications skills will make Thomas an ideal fit for the BPI and RESNET program manager position.

“Everblue is a perfect fit for my skills, as they are the leading education provider in the sustainable construction industry,” Thomas said.

Thomas has spent the last six years specifically focusing on building performance and sustainability. Before coming to Everblue, Thomas owned and operated Sustainabuild LLC, a building diagnostics company that helps homeowners and building owners achieve energy efficiency, durability, and comfort. Thomas also has experience working as a project manager for RCC Associates in Deerfield Beach, FL. There, she implemented company-wide green policies that were applied to both the company’s field and office work.

Thomas has received a number of awards for her sustainable building efforts. While working with RCC Associates, Thomas helped the company earn one of seven ENERGY STAR® Small Business Awards in 2009. She was also the 3rd ranked dealer in the southeast region for Lindal Cedar Homes, a home-building company, which has been recognized by the National Association of Home Builders for its green practices.

In addition to her experience with sustainable building employers, Thomas also devotes time to volunteer positions. She has been an active volunteer for the South Florida chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, and she also served as the chair for the branch’s Green Schools Committee and the Education Committee.

Thomas holds numerous sustainable building certifications, including RESNET HERS certified home energy rater, LEED accredited professional, and Florida and North Carolina certified contractor. She is also a Class 2 and Class 3 energy gauge rater in Florida.
