LEED 2009 Exam Changes Coming Soon

If you’re just starting to think about getting LEED Certified (i.e., becoming a LEED AP), then I’d recommend that you start studying and take the LEED AP Exam before March 31st, 2009.

March 31st, 2009 is the official last day to register for the current LEED NC 2.2 Version 3 Exam, which is 2 hours and 80 questions. Even though you may take the LEED NC 2.2 exam until July 1st or so, if you fail, you will then have to wait for the new exam to come out.

The LEED 2009 exam that will replace the current LEED NC exam will require 4 hours of examination to achieve the same level of accreditation. You’ll actually have to write two exams. The first will be the 2.5 hour LEED Green Associate Exam and then you’ll have to write the 1.5 track specialized exam (i.e., the LEED Homes Exam or LEED Existing Buildings Operation & Maintenance Exam).

I know that this whole process can seem confusing for newcomers to the LEED standard. We explain everything that you need to know as part of our LEED Exam Prep Courses. I encourage you to register for a course and write the exam before March 31st, since the exam will essentially get twice as hard.
