NVR, Inc., one of the largest homebuilders in the nation has committed its four divisions to have all of their homes energy rated by certified RESNET home energy raters and market their home’s HERS Index.

This is fantastic news for HERS Raters and the building industry. This means that not only will thousands of homes be built with energy efficiency in mind, but that more green jobs will be created and job security for Energy Auditors and RESNET HERS raters will be increased.

NVR is the parent company for Ryan Homes with NVR being one of the largest home builders in the U.S. All of NVR’s divisions build their homes to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR standard. In 2011 the company was recognized and awarded the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by EPA.

RESNET has entered into agreements with some of the nation’s largest builders. These agreements are intended to boost consumer knowledge of new home energy performance by using RESNET's HER index standards. This helps consumers gain the knowledge to make informed decisions when it comes to purchasing a well built, energy efficient home. We look forward to more builders following this model.

Are you satisfied with the average cost of your utility bills? Would a home that meets the energy star or RESNET HERS index be more appealing to you than one that isn't?
