North Carolina continues to be a national leader in solar energy, while becoming more energy efficient. Two national organizations recently released their latest rankings on solar energy jobs and energy efficiency, which include positive information about North Carolina.

The Solar Foundation ranked North Carolina 14th for solar employment in their National Solar Jobs Census 2010, in which they reported over 93,000 workers in the United States that spend over half their time supporting solar activities.

Even as Congress failed to take major action on climate and energy legislation in 2010, states across the United States achieved major new strides in energy efficiency, according to the 2010 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). North Carolina ranked 24th, which was a 2-point improvement from 2009.
