My second live online session opened with a discussion about sustainability for our respective businesses. The exercise was an opportunity for the participants to practice their talking points for why sustainability initiatives are important to implement in their business. After sharing for 10-15 minutes, Jon Boggiano, our instructor, laid out an introduction into the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which is the set of standards that company’s use to quantify sustainability initiatives.

USGBC Tour and Training

Last week, Everblue offered LEED Green Associate training for the USGBC Facilities Management team and other candidates at the USGBC and GBCI headquarters. At the end of the first day, we joined the daily tour of the LEED Commercial Interior Platinum facility located on two floors of a renovated office building near Du Pont Circle, Washington DC. The location received a Walk Score of 97, an indication of its proximity to Metro stops, multiple bus lines, and community services.

BPI Certifications Closer to ANSI Accreditation

The Real Estate Division of the Department of Business and Industry recently announced that individuals in the state of Nevada must achieve education and experience requirements prior to performing a home energy audit. The organization clearly lists approved programs, including BPI Certification, RESNET HERS Rater Certification, and Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certification.

Utah Contractors Meet CE Deadline

Wow, today was a busy day for contractors in Utah. Today is the first ever deadline for Utah's mandatory contractor continuing education (CE) requirement. This program mandates that licensed Utah contractors complete six hours of CE training, and it seems like many contractors waited until the last minute!

Solar Training Leads to Solar Growth

A new report titled “National Solar Jobs Census 2011: A Review of the Solar Workforce” conducted by the nonprofit trade group, The Solar Foundation, shows massive growth in the solar industry. The study indicates that there are over 100,000 individuals working in the solar industry, and almost half of the 2,100 solar companies surveyed plan to hire more qualified solar professionals in the next 12 months, with a total of 24,000 new solar jobs created.
