Summer of 2009 has been very interesting for LEED. Right now, many, many last minute LEED for New Construction candidates are scrambling to cram in the last bit of studying for their LEED exam. Some have been preparing all along, while others have resigned themselves to the fact that there’s probably not enough time to fully prepare for the exam. So what to do? My thought is study as much as you can and take the exam anyway. I don’t believe that the USGBC or the GBCI will refund your exam fees, and, with luck, you might pass.  Read more: Looking Ahead to LEED 2009 »

One of our LEED NC 2.2 students was selected to take the LEED AP BD+C beta exam. He took the beta exams for LEED Green Associate and LEED Building, Design, and Construction. The main point of his observations confirm that the LEED AP BD+C exam is no joke. There are many calculations, and the exam really tests a candidate's knowledge of the rating system.  Read more: LEED AP Exam Feedback: BD+C Beta Exam »

While looking through the LEED AP ID+C Candidate Handbook, I paused for a moment at the sample exam questions. Wow, they are wordy if not downright difficult. I can clearly see why they added the calculator to the exam. Four of the six provided sample exam questions involve a math calculation. It seems that the GBCI has taken LEED NC and put the straightforward questions in LEED Green Associate and put the devious, multiple-answer tricky type questions in the LEED AP exams.  Read more: LEED AP Interior Design & Construction Raises the Bar »

LEED 2009, also called LEED v3, puts greater emphasis on building design that has a more holistic impact on the environment. Accommodating regional issues, such as the water shortage in the West, for instance, is part of that change.   Read more: USGBC Releases Regional Credits »
