Everblue Attends KEEA Conference

Energy efficiency was alive and well in the keystone state, as Everblue attended the 2012 Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEAA) conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. KEEA is a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in Pennsylvania. Contractors, public officials, legislative staff, energy raters, and home inspectors were among those who gathered at the event to learn more about the state’s efforts toward reduced energy consumption.

Everblue attended the Pacific Coast Builders Conference last week in San Francisco. The event was well attended by homebuilders and their project teams including marketing and purchasing representatives, architects, and developers. Exhibitors included all types of building products and services, ranging from landscape designers to window manufacturers. The event was a unique opportunity for industry professionals to connect, learn, network, and share ideas. New home sales and construction starts are up this year, creating an optimistic mood at the event.

Last month, Everblue attended the New York Contractor Exchange, which sought to help contractors grow their business in the burgeoning clean energy and home performance markets. The exchange, which took place from May 15 to May 18, was hosted in two different New York locations: Buffalo and Long Island. In addition to assisting contractors, the exchange served to provide specific opportunities available through the ENERGY STAR and Home Performance program. The American Solar Energy Society's National Solar Conference was held along with the biennial World Renewable Energy Conference. The combined event was the World Renewable Energy Forum 2012. Guest speakers at the event included: Steven Chu, secretary of energy for the U.S. Department of Energy; Dan Arvizu, director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and Dorothy Robyn, deputy under secretary of defense for installations and environment for the U.S. Department of Defense.Projected job growth and environmental health were some of the topics they highlighted in their speeches.

Everblue Attends the Good Jobs, Green Jobs Conference

As part of Everblue’s mission to engage with students and industry professionals, Everblue staff consistently attends trade shows and conference across the country. Last week, Everblue participated in the Good Jobs, Green Jobs Conference, held in Detroit. The conference, which focused on numerous areas of interest including schools and the manufacturing sector, had one underlining theme: to bring green jobs to Detroit. Many organizations including BlueGreen Alliance, the United Steelworkers, and the Sierra Club were in attendance, amongst many others.

Last week’s ACI National Home Performance Conference in Baltimore, MD was a large success. It felt like home being among so many individuals passionate about residential energy efficiency. Everblue staff enjoyed the blend of opportunities available during the conference, including attending educational seminars, networking at the exhibition booth, presenting to others, and participating in after-hours events.

I would like to stress the importance of attending conferences and the exposure to many opportunities for continued education. In many cases, a certification from an organization like RESNET or BPI is a starting point to an entry-level position. We are involved in an expanding and evolving industry, and it is important to stay up-to-date with what is going on in our industry.

 The first Home Energy Trainer Conference from Affordable Comfort, Inc (ACI) went off without a hitch. The event took place in Charlotte, NC at the Hilton Charlotte Center City Hotel. Trainers from a multitude of organizations were present, visiting the booths and participating in workshop sessions. Everblue staff members were sprinkled throughout the conference, as conference presenters, volunteers, and booth participants.

Affordable Comfort, Inc (ACI) will be hosting its annual Home Energy Trainer Conference on November 1-2 in Charlotte, NC. Everblue Training Institute will be participating as an exhibitor in the conference. Our staff has also volunteered to work at the conference, as workshop speakers and presenters. The Home Energy Trainer Conference will bring together training organizations from across the country that are looking for the latest industry trends, best practices, and networking opportunities.
