LEED 2009

Blogs in this section refer to the 2009 LEED standards, also known as LEED v3. This standards were effective from 2009 to 2014.

Becoming a LEED AP

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:34

Let's take a moment to look at some of the impending changes to the LEED AP credential. As many of you may already know, the LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential is about to undergo significant changes. These changes include:

Tiered Credentialing

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach for each LEED AP exam track, there will now be a more flexible hierarchy of LEED accreditation. As a result, there is now a three tiered system:

What is LEED NC v2.2?

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:32

LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations (LEED NC v2.2) is a rating system for buildings that was designed to guide and distinguish high-performance buildings that have less of an impact on the environment, are healthier for those who work and/or live in the building, and are more profitable than their conventional counterparts.

Just when many of you are becoming familiar with LEED NC v2.2, it’s time to get ready for the launch of LEED 2009, scheduled for April 27.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 31, 2009 — March 31, 2009 marks the Green Building Certification Institute’s registration deadline for current versions of the LEED AP Exam. Once the deadline passes, it becomes critical for last minute registrants to pass this challenging exam on their first attempt, as re-registering for further attempts will then be impossible in the event that they do not pass on their first try.

LEED Statistics As of March 2009

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:18

It’s remarkable the growth of both the USGBC and the LEED Green Building Standard over the past year. I just noticed a counter on the USGBC website with the following LEED statistics.

As of March 18, 2009:

77,434 LEED APs (80% US, 20% international)

17450 Registered Commercial Projects with 2122 Certified Projects

13836 Registered Residential Projects with 1304 Certified Projects

Excerpted Interview with GBCI Vice President of Credentialing, Beth Holst

It’s amazing how seemingly disorganized that the USGBC and the GBCI sites are in terms of finding useful information quickly. I came across this interview today and thought that it was informative enough to repost here, as it talks about the LEED Green Associate credentialing process. We expect a flurry of information to come out after April 1st regarding the Green Associate Exam.

USGBC Rescheduling Policy for LEED Exams between March 26th and March 31st

Thu, 2009-09-24 00:15

Last fall, when the LEED EB exam was phased out on September 30th, the GBCI and USGBC experienced a surge of registrants and re-registrants that pretty much swamped their abilities. In fact, many people reported that the registration system itself was very slow and unresponsive on September 30th. Given how much bigger LEED NC and CI are compared to what LEED EB was in September, I predict that the entire system will breakdown at least a few days in advance and possibly the entire last week of March.
