Trainer & Manufacturer Collaboration to Highlight Shifts in the Solar Installation Industry

Everblue Training, a nationwide provider of solar energy training courses, has begun partnering with leading equipment manufacturers who are providing widely used or cutting-edge solar products. This type of mutually beneficial relationship will enable Everblue to familiarize aspiring solar installation professionals with the brands and products used in the solar industry.

Penn State Strategic Plan in Development

To show their commitment to sustainability, and to best prepare their students for the real world, Penn State University has decided to develop a five-goal strategic plan.

Although the university is only in its preliminary drafting stage, the University Sustainability Council is considering the following goals:

- Define specific sustainability competencies and credentials that will be pursued by campus individuals

- Develop academic and co-curricular programs designed to cultivate specific sustainability competencies

Penn State Solar PV Installation Course

Last month I was lucky enough to attend Penn State’s Solar PV Installation Train-the-Trainer course. Hosted at the Eaton facility in Warrendale, PA, the course lasted a week and included three different PV installations. In attendance were solar instructors whose backgrounds varied from electrical engineer to solar installer. Leading the program was Penn State’s solar team who represent a collective resume that more than qualified them for the job.

On June 7th, I spoke on a “Getting Started with Home Performance Contracting” webinar Session. There were over 745 participants which is a very impressive turn out for Efficiency First, Everblue Training Institute, Saturn Resources, and the Department of Energy. During the class a few polls were conducted and the audience was as follows: One third were energy auditors, one third were looking to get started in the industry, and the remaining third were either NA or already a Home Performance Contractor.
