Being qualified

Submitted by Anonymous

I am an architect with a master degree in project management. My graduation thesis was about developing a green building rating system for my country. This involved in depth study of LEED among other rating systems with a comprehensive comparison between their points. Does that qualify me to take the LEED GA exam?
It was a year ago so, do I need to take a course or not?
I currently live in Dubai.

Hello and thank you for your question.

It sounds like you are a great candidate for the LEED Green Associate exam! You should definitely enroll in a LEED Green Associate Exam Prep course to make sure that you understand all of the LEED Credit requirements & intents. Upon passing the LEED GA exam, and since it sounds like you have LEED Project Experience, you would then go about qualifying for the LEED AP with Specialty Exam.

Once you have completed our training, you will receive your certificate of completion needed to register for your exam. Exams are taken at Prometric testing facilities, so when you take your test depends on what availability the testing center will have for your appointment. Typically, we recommend students study for 2-3 weeks before taking there exam, therefore if you register in advance you should find a suitable time and date 2-3 weeks before your test date.

Hello and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately this work experience will not be sufficient for understanding the concepts that will be on your LEED Green Associate exam. Your best course of action is to participate in a LEED Exam Prep course, such as the one provided by Everblue, to learn the LEED credits and requirements. You will have the most chance of success by intentionally preparing for the exam.
