Energy Audits Required in Austin, TX

The Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance, listed in chapter 6-7 of the Austin, TX City Code, states that energy audits and disclosures are required for all homes and buildings that are served by the Austin Energy utility and located within Austin city limits.

Commercial energy audits may be performed by a local energy professional without a certification. Single-family and multi-family home energy audits must be performed by a qualified ECAD Energy Professional, such as a BPI Building Analyst or RESNET HERS Rater.  Read more: Energy Audits Required in Austin, TX »

Despite the recent news of President Trump un-doing climate change policies at the federal level, state legislatures across the country are making it clear where they stand on clean energy issues. RESNET recently sent out a notification regarding the technology that powers two of its HERS Rater Certification exams – the CAZ Simulation and the Practical Simulation. Due to unexpected Internet browser updates, these two exams will have limited availability through May 15, 2017.

Record Number of Homes HERS Rated in 2016

According to the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), there were 206,583 homes in the United States that were evaluated by a HERS Rater and issued a HERS Score in 2016.

This broke the record for the number of homes HERS rated in a year!
