Everblue Training Institute is excited to announce the recent hire of Michael Murphy as a LEED, BPI, and RESNET instructor in the company’s Washington, D.C. location. Murphy brings seven years of construction and green building experience to the Everblue Energy team.

“I chose Everblue Training Institute because I believe in Chris and Jon and their mission,” Murphy said. “Education is the key to understanding. Understanding builds knowledge. And knowledge is the key to a sustainable future. I hope to contribute to the sustainability mission by adding my voice to Everblue’s.”

As a LEED, BPI, and RESNET instructor, Murphy will teach lessons with both classroom and field components to Everblue students. Murphy joins a team of Everblue instructors who use their experience and expertise to help students achieve over a 95 percent pass-rate on the LEED exam and a 93 percent pass-rate on the BPI certification exam. These classes help students attain nationally recognized accreditation in green building, energy auditing, and conservation.

Before joining Everblue, Murphy served as the director of international programs operations for the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). While in this position, he collaborated with multiple departments including marketing and communications, policy/advocacy, and technology. Murphy exceeded USGBC Board of Directors 2010 key international strategic metric goal by 400 percent.

Murphy also brings experience to Everblue Training Institute from his positions in business ownership and operations. As an owner and managing partner of Murphy & Maguire LLC, Murphy assisted the company’s revenue from startup to $2.34 million in just two years. He was also able to reduce Verizon’s annual staffing requirements by $17 million between 2000 and 2004 by developing a staffing forecast model, an accomplishment that Verizon rewarded with personal recognition.

On top of his extensive experience in sustainable building and business operations, Murphy is well-practiced in building strategic relationships, contract/vendor management, and metrics development. He is an NAHB-certified Green Professional, active in Habitat for Humanity, as well as team leader for Operation Home Delivery in New Orleans. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from George Mason University and holds an MBA from George Washington University.
