Everblue Delivers BPI Airsealing & Insulation Training to Orange County WIB

Everblue’s BPI Airsealing & Insulation Technicians will certify Orange County Youth participants.

To assist out-of-school youth in developing new green employability skills, the Orange County Workforce Investment Board has contracted with Everblue Energy to deliver the Building Performance Institute’s Airsealing & Insulation Technician training.

Starting in January 2011, this course will prepare individuals to test for their industry license as BPI Airsealing & Insulation Technicians. By earning this certification, individuals can find immediate employment with companies conducting weatherization retrofits for more energy efficient residential homes.

With the introduction of many statewide incentive programs in California, such as Section 25C under the California Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, many homeowners will seek to retrofit their residential homes with more energy efficient options for tax credit. Certified BPI Airsealing & Insulation Technicians will have the technical skills necessary to perform these home retrofits.

“The youth enrolling in this program will certainly see the advantages of earning this certification when they begin their job search,” said Jon Boggiano, principal at Everblue Energy states. “The emerging green industry continues to grow at a fast pace in California, and with the emergency of the BPI Airsealing certification as the premier industry credential for weatherization technicians, these participants will be fully prepared for a career in the green labor force.”

The BPI Airsealing & Insulation Technician course is a three-day course recognized by the Building Performance Institute. This Airsealing license is the only nationally recognized credential for those pursuing certification to perform weatherization retrofits. The class includes three days of hands-on training in how to install specific air leakage control measures in residential attics, crawl spaces, wall cavities and on ducts by installing and connecting appropriate materials in a durable fashion. Everblue Energy is the only nationwide provider of this training.
