Renewable Energy Trainings by Ivy Tech Community College

The Indianapolis college expands its offerings to include LEED, BPI and Solar training courses.

Everblue Energy welcomes Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, Ind., as its newest partner to provide renewable energy training programs across the state of Indiana. Multiple campuses across the state will offer courses in LEED, BPI Building Analyst, BPI Envelope-Shell and Solar Photovoltaics beginning this summer.

Ivy Tech is the nation’s largest singly-accredited statewide community college system with more than 150,000 students enrolled annually. The commitment from Ivy Tech to offer green jobs training exemplifies Indiana’s desire to create a highly qualified workforce ready for widespread job growth in the green sector.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Everblue to offer these cutting-edge programs in renewable energy and green jobs training,” said Susan Brooks, senior vice president for workforce and economic development at Ivy Tech. “As we look at the future of our regional economic growth, we recognize that these certifications will provide our labor force with the skills necessary to succeed with changing industry demands.”

As the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act continues to support projects related to weatherization, energy efficiency and sustainability, there has been widespread acceptance of various industry credentials for workforce development including LEED for green building and BPI for weatherization and energy efficiency.

“By having one or more industry credentials in the green sector, a person is illustrating his or her confidence in the subject matter and the ability to succeed in employment related to the industry,” said Jon Boggiano, co-founder of Everblue. “LEED and BPI credentials truly determine your level of success in the field.”
