Course Description:  Once you've gained a solid understanding of solar energy principles, you'll be ready for this solar panel installation course that takes a deeper dive into system components and installation technique. We'll teach you how to actually install a solar PV system - i.e., the nuts and bolts of attaching the solar modules to the roof, wiring, installing electrical components, and evaluating the performance of the finished product.

Who Should Take This Course?  This course is ideal for builders, roofers, electricians, construction workers, contractors, foremen, site managers, project managers, system engineers, and anyone interested in acquiring solar installation skills.

Course Format:  PV201 is available in two formats: 100% online or blended. The curriculum is exactly the same regardless of which format you choose.

  • Online - features video presentations, practice questions, PDFs, and useful links to additional online content. We recommend that students spend 25-40 hours in total completing this course.
  • Blended - begins with instant access to the online training modules. Participants conclude this program with 2 days in person, where they will gain hands-on experience assembling a 1 kW solar panel array.

Yes! Our solar training courses are designed to give you the skills to begin working as a solar panel installer. You'll want to check your local licensing and certification requirements for solar installers, which vary by state. This will inform you on whether you need to pass a state licensing exam, whether NABCEP Certification is sufficient, and/or whether you need to have an electrical background. Nevertheless, we can teach you the physical skills to install solar panels as well as the knowledge about electrical configuration, solar panel design, and home orientation. Give us a call at 800-460-2575 to discuss your training needs, and we'll get you started!

I am very interested in this program but I will not be able to attend on Saturday due to my religious beliefs. Could arrangements be made to compensate for the loss of the day?

At what level would you place a field experienced and a certified electrician from a different country to be able to qualify any solar installtion systems.

Thank you, Mike

Hello Mike,

Our advice would be to take the NABCEP PV Associate Training. It will provide all the guidelines and procedures for solar installation in the United States. As you already have experience installation, this course is also appropriate since installations are not covered.

Thank you,
